About the Program

The broad area of study in the Product Design & Development program prepares students for successful careers in today’s job market and for years to come. Companies successfully competing in the global economy are relying heavily on innovation and new product design and development.

Product designers are in demand for areas such as automotive, consumer goods, consumer electronics, aerospace, and furniture. The program prepares students to participate in the customer-driven product realization process including concept generation, evaluating design alternatives, computer modeling, prototyping, engineering analysis, selecting materials and processes, cost estimating, tool development, quality, and manufacturability.

Graduates are employed in industry as product designers, industrial designers, process engineers, product development engineers, quality engineers, and application engineers.
