Testing and Evaluation of Paints and Coatings
2016 dates TBD

Paints and coatings are increasingly complex materials that are used to protect and/or decorate a wide range of substrates. Testing and evaluation of paints and coatings are critical both at manufacturing and user end. This course is designed to provide fundamental understanding of how paint raw materials, liquid paints, and dry films are tested and their results interpreted using standard methods. The course will provide understanding of test methods and their underlying principles that are important for successful product development, quality control and trouble shooting. A half-day lab session will provide opportunity for hands-on experience with some instruments.

Who should attend

This course is designed to provide fundamental understanding and familiarity with testing and evaluation of raw materials, finished products and dry coating films. It is highly recommended for entry-level chemists in technical/research area, QC, product development and research staff, technical sales, customer support staff, field representatives, and all others who need a broad knowledge of testing and trouble shooting.
