Criminology

It is our mission to provide students with an education in criminology and criminal justice that prepares them to think critically about crime and the criminal justice system.  This will enable students to perform effectively as employees in the criminal justice field, as well as prepare them for advanced studies in law, criminal justice administration, or criminology. 

Graduates of the program will be equipped with knowledge, skill, and ethical awareness of criminal behavior, legal systems, punishment philosophy, corrections systems, criminal justice administration, challenges of diversity and the pursuit of social change.

Program Goals

1. To provide students with a multi-disciplinary understanding of crime and criminal justice
2. To develop students abilities to conceptualize/analyze problems of a criminological nature
3. To demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the oral and written communication of criminological issues
4. To develop one specific area/concentration (corrections, legal studies, law enforcement, criminal justice administration)
