Ellene Tratras Contis, Ph.D., Principal Investigator, Professor of Chemistry
Dr. Tratras Contis formed and facilitated a team of STEM faculty on Project Connect, a program to develop cross-disciplinary team-taught science courses for non-STEM majors. Her latest activity with science and general education reform was to participate in developing and facilitating the implementation of the new general education program, Education for Participation in the Global Community.
Joanne Caniglia, Ph.D., Co-Principal Investigator, Professor of Mathematics
Dr. Caniglia is an expert in innovative pedagogy. She has attended the Academic Service-Learning Faculty Fellow Seminar and uses academic service-learning in her courses. She was on the Project Connect team and heavily involved in developing and teaching the courses. Her expertise is demonstrated by the number of successful projects on which she has served.
Kathleen Stacey, Ph.D., Co-Principal Investigator, Director of the Office of Academic Service-Learning(AS-L) and Professor of Communication
Dr. Stacey facilitates the AS-L Faculty Fellow Seminar to train faculty in the teaching pedagogy of academic service-learning. She has assisted in the dissemination, adaptation and institutionalization of this model at six universities across the country through a U.S. Department of Education FIPSE grant (P116B00145), and four colleges of education throughout Michigan, funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (00LHEM1062).
