Coaching Science Olympiad (WI 2007)

CSIE 277: Coaching Science Olympiad. This special CSIE seminar trains EMU students to become Science Olympiad event sponsors. Students apply what they have learned in disciplinary and methods coursework to assist the Washtenaw County regional event coordinators. Requires an interest in working with middle and high school age students.

CSIE student scholars will

• Deconstruct event rules
• Create competitive tests requiring critical thinking and creative problem solving.
• Participate and recruit EMU student volunteers
• Assist with logistical operations of a regional event including website http://people.emich.edu/kmccrumb/scioly/
• Conduct post-evaluation with area coaches and sponsers.
