Dennis Beagen is a Professor of Speech Communication and the former director of EMU’s nationally recognized forensic team. Professor Beagen’s teaching and research interests include speech-communication, forensics and small group communication.
In addition to CTA department head, Professor Beagen has filled numerous special assignments for the University, including assignments as associate provost and dean of Continuing Education.
Professor Beagen began teaching at EMU in the Fall of 1967 and has also taught at Washtenaw Community College.
Professional Activities
Dennis Beagen has served as executive secretary and president of the Michigan Speech Communication Association; member of the National Forensic Association Journal’s editorial board; and on numerous EMU initiatives including special assistant to the Provost for the Campaign for Scholars.
