Biography:
Professor Booth joined the faculty of the Communications, Media & Theatre Arts Department at EMU in the fall of 2006. Preparing students as cultural leaders through the Arts Management & Administration Program is her passion. With a background as an artist, manager and educator Susan brings vast experience and a very unique perspective to her work here at EMU. Since joining EMU Professor Booth has continued to connect University resources to area cultural leaders and organizations with her research as the Associate Consultant on the Washtenaw County Master Cultural Plan (released fall 2008.) Prior to EMU and since 1997 Professor Booth worked as an educator teaching at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in the Department of Theatre & Film. In this role she developed a new minor in Arts Management for BGSU and was also instrumental in the development of NWoAX - the North West Ohio Arts Exchange a collaborative program between university and community arts organizations. Before entering academia Susan worked as a fund-raiser for regional theatres, cultural and social service organizations. Her last major project was raising $20 million for the Toledo Cultural Arts Center's renovation of the historic Valentine Theatre. Before working as a fundraiser Susan was a theatre artisan for theatres such as: the New York Shakespeare Festival, the Alliance Theatre Company, the Santa Fe Opera, the Old Globe and the Walnut Street Theatre.
