Biography:
Jeromy Hopgood brings to Eastern Michigan an eclectic background in entertainment design from venues across the country. Before coming to EMU, he taught at Appalachian State University in North Carolina and the University of Kentucky at Lexington. Jeromy has designed professionally, both as a scenic and lighting designer, for over a decade. He worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in its Tony-award-winning season, where he designed scenery and served as an assistant-designer to many Broadway designers. Jeromy is a long-time member of the United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) and has presented on numerous panels for the Education Commission. Publications include works on digital portfolios for entertainment design and pedagogical approaches to teaching design at the university level. Currently, his research is geared towards a nation-wide survey of design educators at the graduate level to assess trends in MFA student matriculation.
