The Drama/Theatre for the Young program is designed to further prepare qualified students for a variety of careers involving drama/theatre for developmental purposes as well as theatre arts for the young.
To be considered for admission to the program, applications should, in addition to meeting the Graduate School requirements, have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
MFA applicants must complete an interview with at least one faculty member in the program. Letters of recommendation, samples of previous work and a letter explaining reasons for pursuing the degree and qualifications for entering the program are also required.
The applicant's undergraduate studies and extra-curricular experiences must provide an appropriate foundation for the speical graduate focus in Drama/Theatre for the Young.
The Master of Fine Arts
The MFA is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career as a professional artist working in an educational or theatre environment. As a terminal degree, the MFA also allows students to teach at the college level.
- Distribution of credit requirements:
A minimum of 60 credit hours (semester system) of approved course work (including internship and thesis or project) beyond a bachelor's degree or a minimum of 30 credit hours beyond an appropriate masters degree must be satisfactorily completed.

The Master of Arts
The Master of Arts degree is designed for educators who are motivated to integrate drama/theatre into their classroom. The majority of students enrolled in the program are licensed teachers who are pursuing their Master's degree. Many courses take place in the evenings in order to accommodate working teachers.
