Electronic Media and Film Studies
Electronic Media and Film Studies (EMFS) is one of the academic programs within the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. EMFS at EMU balances practical applications of audio, video, production with the development of critical thinking skills and a solid aesthetic underpinning valued by employers. Students can concentrate on either audio and video production or theory classes from the EMFS major to augment the excellent liberal arts education provided by Eastern Michigan University. The EMFS area supports:
  • A student-run radio station, WQBR
  • Numerous student-produced programs carried on the campus cable system
  • Three audio production suites
  • Five digital audio editing suites
  • Two multi-camera, video production studios
  • Four digital video editing bays running Final Cut Pro
  • 12 eMacs running Final Cut Express
