Phil Simmons: Phil is a native Oklahoman and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Georgia. He also holds a B.A. in Theatre and a B.A. in English from Oklaoma State University. For the past 20 years, he has split his time between acting, singing, dancing, and directing, casting, and choreographing musicals around the world, calling New York City "home." Phil is completely delighted to be on faculty at Eastern Michigan as an Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre. In addition to studying ballet, jazz, and tap for hundreds of years, he has also served as dance captain for the Broadway First National Tour of "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum" starring Rip Taylor, and the Broadway First National Tour of "Man of LaMancha" starring Tony winner Ron Holgate and Grammy Winner Jack Jones. He was lucky enough to play Ozzie in the European Tour of "On The Town" as well as leads in "Evita" and "Singin' In the Rain" in the long-running European Tour of "The Best of Broadway." For the last four years, he was in the third longest running Off-Broadway show in history "Naked Boys Singing" where he also served as dance captain and assistant director. Phil wants to tailor his dance instruction specifically to teaching young dancers how to get jobs and how to be a
working dancer.
