Due to the extreme weather conditions, Eastern Michigan University is canceling all classes on Monday, February 2. This includes all planned campus activities, lectures and events. The University will be open as scheduled on Tuesday, February 3, for regular business and classes.

The Department of Economics at EMU offers majors and minors in economics with diversified areas of specialization. In addition to BA in Economics housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the department offer a bachelor of Business Administration in Economics housed in the College of Business. The department also offers a major in actuarial science and economics is offered in a joint program with the Mathematics department. The department participates in other University programs such as language and international trade, area studies offered in the History and Philosophy department, a minor in conservation and resource use in the Biology department, and the Women's Studies program. In addition, the department offers a masters degree in economics with several specializations: MA in Economics (ECN), MA in Applied Economics (ECNA), and MA in International Economics and Development (ECNI), MA in Health Economics (ECNH), MA in Trade and Development (TDRV).
Students have access to the University computer system through the department's own computer lab with statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, RATS, and SPSS installed in the computers. Computer labs are also available through facilities at various locations on campus.
The department sponsors Eta chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society in economics, established in 1975. The society recognize students who demonstrate ability in the study of economics and it is dedicated to the encouragement of excellence in economics. The department also hosts a vibrant student body organized under Economics Club. The club regularly meets for social gatherings, sponsors investment challange games, organize field trips to regional conferences.
