- Department of Economics is happy to announce that Dr. Donald Pearson, Emeritus Professor of Economics, has recently established The Donald W. Pearson Scholarship in Economics. The scholarship is for an annual award to be made to an Economic Major or Minor with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (overall and in economics courses) with preference given to students in Honors program and/or with international study experience. The first year for the award will be academic year beginning in September 2013, and the first year's award will be $500.
- The Department of Economics welcomes Dr. James Saunoris who is joining the department beginning of Fall 2012. Dr. Saunoris received his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. His primary research interests are in the applied areas of public finance and open-economy macro/monetary economics. His research has been published/forthcoming in economic journals such as Journal of Policy Modeling, Journal of Regional Analysis & Policy and Journal of Economic Studies. Dr. Saunoris teaches classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in macroeconomics.
