The Economics Department supports various events and activities throughout the academic school year to encourage students to develop in the field of economics while having fun.

Fed Challenge Team 2013

The department hosts a vibrant student body organized under the Economics Club. The club meets regularly to organize application outside of the classroom, including field trips to conferences and investment challenge games. 

The department sponsors ETA chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society in economics, established in 1975. The society recognizes students who demonstrate ability in the study of economics and it is dedicated to the encouragement of excellence in economics. 

The department sponsors the EMU Fed Challenge Team who compete at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. This national competition provides hands-on experience to learn about monetary policymaking. 

The department encourages and supports students to present research on-campus at the annual undergraduate symposium and/or graduate fair. In some cases, students accompany faculty to present research off campus at professional conferences, such as the Midwest Economics Association annual meeting or the Southern Economic Association annual meeting.

The department provides events outside of the classroom by hosting meet-and-greet events, workshops, and an annual student awards ceremony.
