There are many ways to become involved in EMU's campus life without taking classes through campus volunteer opportunities. If you have an idea for a campus volunteer opportunity or know of an area you’d like to be involved with, contact the ElderQuest office at 734.487.0227 or send us an email at elderquest@emich.edu.

Some of the current ways ElderQuest members can become involved in campus life through campus volunteer opportunities are:

Children's Institute

The Children's Institute is looking for ElderQuest members to be classroom grandparents who would like to spend time with children ranging in age from 18 months to six years old. The hours are flexible and you set your own level of commitment for this opportunity. Some of the ways classroom grandparents participate is by reading to small groups of children, sharing life experiences and participating in playtime.

GEAR UP is a federal, state and university-funded program encouraging students to prepare for college early. The program offers support to high school students and their parents to help increase access to post-secondary education. There is a wide range of possibilities for ElderQuest volunteers including tutoring and mentoring students, creating student groups or participating in monthly parent meetings.GEAR UP is eager to hear from you about ways you can help support students and/or parents.

EMU Olds/Robb Rec-IM Center
