Biography
Jeromy Hopgood brings over a decade of professional work in the
world of entertainment
design and technology to the classroom. He has designed scenery,
lighting, and sound for
professional theatres in Arkansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, North
Carolina, and
Michigan. He worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in its
Tony-Award-Winning
season alongside numerous Broadway designers. Since arriving in
Michigan, Jeromy has
designed for 8th Wonder Productions, Performance Network Theatre,
and served as the
resident scenic design and technical director for the Michigan
Shakespeare Festival.
Prior to coming to EMU, Jeromy served as a professor of design/technology
at the
University of Kentucky and Appalachian State University. Upon arrival
at EMU in 2008,
he began working on curriculum development for a new program in
Entertainment
Design & Technology. As a longstanding member of the United
States Institute of
Theatre Technology, Professor Hopgood has presented research through
numerous panels
on pedagogy and assessment of design and technology at the university
level.
Professional publications include multiple articles on creating
digital portfolios and
serving as a contributor to the recent Illustrated Theatre Production
Guide 2nd Edition by
John Holloway.
