Biography
Gayle has been an Adjunct Lecturer here at Eastern Michigan University
since 2008.
Between 2004-2006 Gayle founded, at Ypsilanti High School, a
theatre troupe called
Diverse by Design, which served to educate fellow high school
students about various
social and health-related issues through theatrical performance.
In addition Gayle
interned with the University Musical Society (2006), serving
as an interpreter and mentor
for their performance of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar at
Martin Luther King High
School in Detroit, Michigan. Gayle was recipient of the King
/ Chavez / Parks Future
Faculty Fellowship Award (2005 – 2007) and the Eastern
Michigan Barton Scholarship
(2007), Her Graduate Thesis Project – Another New/Old Day,
performed at Martin Luther
King High School in Detroit MI addressed teen social issues.
This production later
traveled to Livonia’s Churchill High School. In addition
to her teaching, Gayle is the
Director of Close-Up Theatre Troupe, the Faculty Advisor for
both Alpha Gamma Delta
Sorority and Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, and coaches
the EMU Women’s
Club Water Polo Team.
