The Jumpmettle Awards for Best Graduate and Undergraduate Fiction

First prize for
GRADUATE STUDENT
FICTION ENTRY: $1,000

First prize for
UNDERGRADUATE
STUDENT FICTION ENTRY: $500

Final Judge: EMU Creative Writing Faculty

Guidelines:

-All entrants must be matriculating students at Eastern Michigan University during the Fall ’07 or Winter ’08 semesters.

-Entries should be double-spaced with no smaller than one-inch margins all around and in 12-point type. Manuscripts should be not more than 25 pages

-All entries should include a cover sheet with:

Title of the Submission
Undergraduate or Graduate Designation
Author’s Name
Address
Phone Number
Email

-The author’s name should only appear on the cover sheet but nowhere else on the entry. Incorrectly formatted entries will not be considered.

-Only one entry per student.

Deadline: Mar. 3, 2008

How to submit: Entries should be submitted in hard copy only to the mailbox of Professor Christine Hume in the English Department mail room, 612 Pray-Harrold. Clearly mark entries as submissions for the Jumpmettle Student Fiction Award. (For any mixed- or multi-media submissions, email chume [at] emich.edu for specific entry guidelines.)

The winners will be publicly announced in April at the Winter Creative Writing Student Showcase. All entrants will be notified of the winners by email.

This award is endowed with funds donated to the Creative Writing Program at Eastern Michigan University.
