Biography:
Christine M. Tracy is a rhetorician, media ecologist, and communications scholar. She teaches journalism as an assistant professor in EMU’s English Department. She holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Rhetoric from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., where she was a founding editor of Computer-Mediated Communication, one of the Web’s first e-zines. Her “The Evolution of the Newspaper of the Future,” was published in The Proficient Reader and in Perspectives: Online Journalism. Other recent publications include “The Trilogy List: An Effective Rhetorical Strategy for Designing Digital Texts,” Language Arts Journal of Michigan. She is currently working on a book project for Hampton Press: “Into the Newssphere: An Exploration of News and Information Delivery as an EcoSystem.” Her research focuses on developing an ecology of news and studying digital journalism and the shifts in consciousness precipitated by emergent media practices. She is a member of the Media Ecology Association, Rhetoric Society of America, and the National Communication Association. She lives in Ann Arbor with her dog Heidi.
