Biography:
James Pinson is a professor of journalism at EMU and has taught here since the fall of 1990. He holds a doctorate in journalism from the University of Missouri, where he also taught for six years.

He is co-author with Brian S. Brooks and Jean Gaddy Wilson of Working With Words (fourth edition, St. Martin's Press), a grammar, style and usage guide for student and professional journalists, as well as its accompanying workbook. Pinson, Brooks, and Wilson have also co-authored New Directions in News. Pinson and Brooks have co-authored the "St. Martin's Wire Services Hotline," a computer program.

Professor Pinson's professional interests include editing, philosophy of journalism, and mass media and society.
