Biography:
Charles E. Simmons attended schools in Detroit, holds a BA degree from Langston University, Oklahoma; a MS from Columbia University in New York City; and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Georgetown University in Washington. His articles have appeared in African American, national and international newspapers and magazines, and he has hosted a radio program in Los Angeles.

He has reported news in Africa, the Middle East, Europe as well as in the United States. A former legislative assistant to U.S. Rep. John Conyers, Simmons has taught at Howard University in Washington and California State University-Los Angeles. He is currently a member of the advisory editorial board of the Michigan Citizen Newspaper and the board of directors of the Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice.
