Interests and Expertise

Fiction, poetry, cross-genre/hybrid forms, sound poetry, video, music composition, songwriting, screenplay, book reviews. Areas of particular interest are the films of Werner Herzog, the music of Nick Cave, the poetry of Muriel Rukeyser, and incarceration (I also teach a class at the Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility).

Recent Publications and Presentations

My stories, poetry, and everything in between have appeared in journals such as Passages North, The Literary Review, Hobart Online, Fourteen Hills, Booth, Rio Grande Review, Mississippi Review, Sleeping Fish, Passages North, The Collagist, Midwestern Gothic, Hawaii Review, and Big Muddy. One of my stories was chosen by Caitlin Horrocks as the winner of the 2013 Great Lakes Commonwealth of Letters Fiction Contest. I contribute book and film reviews to places like htmlgiant.com, Tarpaulin Sky, Puerto del Sol, The Rumpus, Rain Taxi, and New Orleans Review. My album of Werner Herzog sound poems will be released by Punctum Records in 2014.

Alas, Summer 2014 is my last at EMU! I'm off to the University of Utah in the fall to pursue my PhD in English / Creative Writing.
