The career possibilities are endless when you decide you want to get a degree in English. Studying English provides you with ample skills for a variety or jobs in business, research organizations, educational settings, publishing companies, financial institutions, entertainment, communications, and health care industries, just to name a few.
As an English major, you will learn versatility and develop skills useful to any job of your choice. When you finally go looking for that dream job, you will notice that employers are more focused on looking at what skills and experience you have as an English major, which will imperative to have on the path to your career.
Below is a list of a few of the career choices, and descriptions of the careers, that are out there for you when you are contemplating becoming an English major, and they are:

Advertising Copywriter: Writes advertising copy for display in all types of media.
Computer Instructional Designer: Writes instructions, tutorials, course materials for internal company use and external customer use. Works for manufacturers of computer and software.
Continuity Writer: Writes and edits scripts for broadcast announcers, concentrating on lengths of segments and addition of commercials, works directly with radio and television producers.
Copy Editor/Reader: Edits printed copy for grammar and style errors. Work possibilities include: book/magazine publishers, newspapers, advertising agencies, and in-house publications of different sorts.
Corporate Communications Specialist: Works in all types of fields. Writes press releases, speeches, annual reports, and promotional material for the specific company.
Correspondent/Stringer: Writes freelance reports usually for more than one publication. Works as an independent contractor and most likely has expertise knowledge of the subject matter.
Editorial Assistant: Reviews and edits copy; coordinates illustrations and graphics, securing copyrights, works for book publishers.
