Interests and Expertise

Allie started teaching English as a Second Language because she loves to travel and she loves to meet people from all over the world! She taught English in Takayama, Japan and Istanbul, Turkey. She speaks Japanese, Turkish, Italian, and Spanish.

Allie was the recipient of the Mary Finocchiaro Award for Excellence in Non-published Pedagogical Material in 2011 and the TESOL Professional Development Scholarship 2011.

Allie's goal is to use dynamic and interesting techniques, including technology, to engage students in learning English as a Second language in ways that make learning the language easier. Her favorite thing about teaching ESL is getting to interact with people from different countries. In addition, she enjoys using her knowledge of the English language and her own personal studies of other languages to help make learning English easier for students.
