Alternative Credit Options

Prior Learning Assessment
EMU students can earn credit for college-level learning gained outside the college environment. This may include seminars, job training or knowledge acquired independently. PLA requires you to document your experience, match it to EMU courses and compile a written portfolio for each course credit sought.

After contacting us and attending our free, online workshop, you'll have one year to complete a portfolio to demonstrate your learning. Once faculty evaluates your portfolio, you'll receive a determination. Submitting a portfolio does not guarantee credit. Successful portfolios receive a grade that will be recorded on your transcript.

For more information, contact PLA at 734.487.0407 or ihamed@emich.edu.
