Winter Break

Spend a week in Bellaire, Michigan at Shanty Creek Resorts while earning up to four credits over Winter Break. Join more than 200 other EMU students to study in a small group setting while adding to your college experience and enjoying recreation in beautiful Northern Michigan. Winter Break courses run from Sunday, Feb. 23 to Friday, Feb 28, 2014, unless otherwise noted.  Find your course now! 

Lodging
Staying at Shanty Creek Resorts is the most convenient and inexpensive option for lodging (some meals are included). Shanty Creek Resorts is made up of three villages with student accommodation at Shanty Creek’s Summit Village where most courses are held. Rooms include two full beds or one king, balcony or patio, cable TV, wireless Internet, mini-refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. Note: There is no computer lab. Instructors give ample time to complete work or the option to complete work before or after Winter Break. Spouses and families are welcome to stay at the resort. Find a roommate. Cost
These courses cost the current tuition and fees rate, plus an additional $55 per class program fee and the cost of lodging, meals and transportation. To find out if financial aid can help with costs, contact the financial aid office at 734.487.0455.

2014 Shanty Creek Lodging Costs*

Three-Day Stay:
Single: $338 | Double: $210 | Triple: $179 | Quad: $164

Five-Day Stay:
Single: $564 | Double: $350 | Triple: $298 | Quad: $273

*These prices include:

  • Lodging and taxes
  • Breakfast, lunch and dining gratuities
  • Fitness Center (spa treatments and tanning not included)
  • Shuttle service on Shanty Creek Property
  • Children under 17 years of age may stay in their parent's room using existing bedding.

The charge for an extra person is $10 per person, per night. These rates do not include taxes, fees and meals.

Outside the Classroom
With 55 runs on two mountains and a 450' vertical drop catering to the skills of novices, intermediates and experts alike, you are sure find some time to ski. Lift tickets are $10/day and equipment rentals are $20/day including helmet. Shanty Creek also offers tubing, snowshoe hikes, an indoor pool, arcade games, pool tables and a spa. How to Get Here
 Reserve a spot on our bus. The bus leaves EMU on Sunday, Feb. 23 and heads to Shanty Creek Resorts and returns Friday, Feb. 28.
