Information Fluency Across the Curriculum: Facilitating Student Development as Researchers and Life-long Learners

Led by Suzanne Gray

This seminar is for EMU instructors who are interested in re-thinking how students develop fluency in identifying a need for information, and in locating, retrieving, assessing, and using information efficiently and ethically. Examining research as a process and investigating the cognitive development of college students as it relates to information fluency will be two primary components of the seminar. We will focus on the information abilities needed by all students graduating from EMU, irrespective of discipline.

Participants will develop an understanding of current student research practices and will explore practical strategies for improving them. The format will include small group discussion, examination of best practices and case studies, and individual work with a faculty librarian versed in approaches to information fluency.

If you'd like to learn more or apply for this seminar, you can download the application and read the complete description here. Applications are due by January 15, 2015.
