Eastern Michigan University is pleased to announce the continuation of the eFellows program for academic year 2013-2014. This program is provided for tenure/tenure-track faculty and full-time lecturers through the collaboration between the Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development Center, Faculty Senate, the Office of the Provost, and the Division of IT. The program is funded by the Office of the Provost.

The eFellows program was established to support faculty and lecturers in obtaining the resources needed to successfully integrate technology that enhances student-focused instruction in courses and curriculum. The overall outcome of this program is to improve and enhance student learning and the scholarship of teaching through the integration of appropriate technology.

Special Call for Proposals

All proposals MUST be received by 5:00 p.m. on the due date. Proposals must be complete and contain all required components. NO late submissions will be accepted.

Congratulations to Our Fall 2013 Grant Recipients

The eFellows Committee would like to thank everyone who submitted applications during our Fall 2013 grant cycle. We commend you on your continued pursuit to use technology to enhance the teaching and learning of students at Eastern Michigan University. The Fall 2013 eFellows Grant recipients are:

Associate Professor Alexander Jeffrey Popko,

Professor Thomas Cullen, and

Professor Joe Bishop

Their project, "Reading While Listening", will use technology to allow classes of EMU students to interact with text in ESL courses.

Assistant Professor Michael Barnes

His project,"An Evaluation of Virtual Reality for Exhibitions and Library Services", will use technology to begin building a virtual reality interface for EMU library patrons.

Associate Professor Elizabeth Bucciarelli

Her project,"An Evaluation of the MS Surface Pro in Health Sciences Library Research Instruction and in the Performance of the Medical eBook Collections at EMU Library", will use technology to enhanse the effectiveness of health sciences research instruction at EMU.

Associate Professor Sandra Nelson

Her project,"Using an Academic Electronic Health Record as a Standalone System to Facilitate Real-Time Documentation of Care to Standard Patients in Clinical Settings", will use technology to facilitate real-world assessment, diagnosis, and treatment documentation experiences for EMU psychatric mental health nursing students.

Assistant Professor Sandra Restaino

Her project,"A Latin American International Healthcare Partnership", will use technology to facilitate a cultural and educational exchange between EMU nursing students and nursing students in Latin America.

Program Outcomes for 2013-2014

The eFellows program supports and provides resources for faculty to integrate technology into their teaching. Priority for funding during academic year 2013-2014 will be awarded to proposals that focus on:

Proposal Writing and Feedback Workshops

Attend one of the following workshops to learn how to write a proposal for eFellows:

  1. Friday, November 15, 2013 from 10:00am-12:00 pm in Halle room 109B
  2. Monday, November 18, 2013 from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm in Halle room 109B
  3. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 10:00am-12:00 pm in Halle room 109B

Submit an Application

The eFellows Application has three requirements:

  1. MSWord File copy of application
  2. Hard copy of application with signatures and signed letter of support
  3. Required online registration and submission

MSWord File Copy of Application

Submit a copy of your eFellows application as an attached MSWord file to aavp_fdc@emich.edu by the deadline. It should include the project cover sheet, description, and budget. Please do not convert this file into .pdf format.

Hard Copy of Application with Signatures and Signed Letter of Support

One (1) hard copy of the Application for Proposals, including all signatures, as well as a signed letter of support, must be hand delivered to the Faculty Development Center, 109 Halle Library, or scanned, and sent to aavp_fdc@emich.edu by the deadline.
