Monday, November 9
1:30 p.m.- 3:00p.m.

Diane Lawrence, Presenting

Here's your chance to get actual hands-on practice with a SMART Board, the interactive whiteboard. They eliminate the need to save your flip chart, chalkboard or whiteboard notes, by saving them directly to the computer. Great for displaying student work as well!  These boards are now being used regularly in K-12 education, with many EMU students already familiar with their use.  Bring your laptop if you have one, and download SMART Notebook software. Open any application, then you can touch the screen to navigate, write, draw and save your work. Class size is limited to 4, so sign up early to guarantee a seat.

John Dunn, Presenting

Last spring, a group of faculty took a week long workshop on moving their writing along the path to publishing. After meeting again this fall, the group has decided to form a “support network” of writers. The writers come from all disciplines and are at all stages of the writing process. The group will be facilitated by John Dunn, whose expertise lies in writing. He has led several successful programs for faculty on how to write for publication.
These meetings will NOT be workshops on how to write. Instead, the format will include some individual writing time, providing feedback to, and receiving feedback from a writing partner, and one helpful short writing tip with open discussion following. If you are interested in joining an interdisciplinary group that is serious about their writing, and would like to find some support for your writing process, this group is for you!
