Faculty Development Fellows

The purpose of the Faculty Development Fellows program is to develop the Fellows' expertise in one core area of faculty development. The FDFs will identify one core area, and:

  1. Develop and facilitate a one or two-semester long program for faculty on that core area;
  2. Individually mentor faculty in that core area;
  3. Create innovative ways to keep faculty engaged in the topic when they are not meeting (e.g., on-line discussions or small group meetings);
  4. Appropriately use technology to make the series available on-line; and
  5. Conduct scholarly inquiry on their area of expertise and disseminate their results.
The FDFs will be responsible for creating and providing programs for four semesters: Fall 2008 & 2009 as well as Winter 2009 & 2010. The Fellows will also be responsible for placing course materials in an on-line course management system. Fellows will also be required to "thread" some aspect of multicultural competence through the series.

Faculty Development Fellows are provided with ¼ time release time for Winter semester 2006 to develop the seminar series and participate in training. Readings will be provided and weekly projects assigned.

In the coming two years, FDFs will be provided with ¼ release time both semesters to teach their program, mentor faculty, provide on-going support, evaluate and write up the results of their projects. Faculty Development Fellowships are open to all tenured faculty. Fellows are free to suggest areas of faculty development where they would develop expertise.

Applications are closed for this year. Please check back in April 2008.
