The 2008-2009 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Seminar <--click here for more information
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) movement attempts to raise teaching to its well-deserved position of prominence in the academy by encouraging faculty members to empirically investigate student learning in their classes. Ultimately, the goal is to end the "pedagogical solitude" in which we spend our teaching careers and to create a true scholarship of teaching and learning that allows for accumulating knowledge and building on it in teaching.

August 25 and August 26, 2008-Teaching Technology & Research (T2R) -
T2R is a program Eastern Michigan University hosts that consists of faculty guided workshops for the development of all staff, faculty, lecturers, adjuncts, and graduate students. A detailed list of workshops available will be added to the website soon. Check back in July for date specific announcements and workshop descriptions.

August 27 and August 28, 2008-New Faculty Orientation -
The FDC will continue to update on information regarding this.

Sponsored by Let Me Learn and the University of Nevada Las Vegas January 15-16, 2009.
This forum examines current best practices in recognizing and promoting the diversity of students as learners. Beyond tutorial programs and academic and career counseling, this forum invites professionals to highlight what programs specifically keep their institution from leaving learning to chance.
