Mid-term Student Feedback
This service involves developing the questions on which you wish to receive feedback and having the consultant conduct a “focus group” with your students. Then you and the consultant meet to review the feedback. It is best completed approximately four to six weeks into the course, so that you have sufficient time to analyze the feedback and make any necessary adjustments in the course. Plan to spend one hour with the consultant before the feedback session, leave approximately 25 minutes open during one of your class sessions, and one more hour discussing the results of the feedback with the consultant.
Questions for students might involve the selection of assignments, use of texts, activities/assessments, the professor’s demeanor, etc. Oftentimes the simplest questions generate the most answers. For example, what do you like best about this course? What needs to be improved? And how would you improve it? If you would like the FDC to conduct a session for you, please Contact Us.
Many faculty feel comfortable enough to conduct such feed back sessions themselves. A suggested feedback form is available here.
