Potential Financial Aid Scam

A company called Student Financial Resource Center is sending letters to students and parents requesting at least $59.00 in order to process financial aid for the 2012-13 academic year.

The company is apparently using a logo that looks very much like the U.S. Department of Education logo, is using a telephone number very similar to the Federal Student Aid's (FSA) toll free number, and is using terminology such as the "Student Aid Profile Form" that is very misleading.

This is NOT a request from the U.S. Department of Education. Students and parents are NOT required to pay a fee for financial aid processing. Eastern Michigan University does not endorse this company and we recommend that you exercise caution when receiving information like this.

As a reminder, the application for federal financial aid (Free Application for Federal Student Aid-FAFSA) is a FREE application. You should never have to pay a person or company to process your application. If you have questions while filing the FAFSA, please call the Office of Financial Aid at 734-487-0455.

Scholarships

  • The #mi2020 Scholarship Competition is designed to give Michigan high school seniors the chance to create a short video that explains why we need to enact the Michigan 2020 Plan! And to show the impact the Michigan 2020 Plan can have, the winner of this competition will have up to $10,000 of their first year's expenses at a Michigan college paid for.
