Michigan Competitive Scholarship (MCS)
The Michigan Competitive Scholarship program is available to undergraduate student pursuing their first degrees at an approved Michigan Postsecondary institution.
Students must demonstrate both financial need and merit and eligible applicants must achieve a qualifying ACT score prior to entering college.
They must also be a US citizen or a permanent resident, or approved refugee. Must have been continuous resident since July 1, of the previous calendar year for additional information please visit the State of Michigan, Student Financial Aid web site.
Applicants must file FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Student who files by March 1 will receive priority consideration. Students are encouraged to file their FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov
How much will I receive?
The amount of MCS is determined by the State of Michigan Office of Scholarships and Grants.
What do I need to do to keep my award?
File a FAFSA every year by March 1, maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better and be meeting the Universities Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy.
