Scholarships

IMPORTANT - University scholarships are competitive and are awarded based on available funding. Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not ensure students will receive an award. Students may receive no more than one of the following scholarships: Presidential, Regents-Gold, Regents, Recognition of Excellence or Eagle.

University Scholarships
Eastern Michigan University offers a variety of University academic scholarships to freshmen and upper-class students. Returning students who wish to be considered for University Scholarships must complete the University Scholarship before the January 31st deadline.

The University Scholarship Application for students whose first semester at EMU is this semester (winter 2008) and who wish to apply for univeristy scholarships for the 2008- 2009 academic year,

Newly admitted freshmen and transfer students are considered for scholarships through their EMU Admission Application. Freshmen students must be admitted by March 1 for consideration and transfer students must be admitted by May 15 for consideration.

Returning and currently enrolled EMU students may obtain an application (Available October 15) from by clicking here. This application is due the last working day of January each year) to be considered for scholarships.

Detroit Compact Scholarship
Eastern Michigan University participates in this scholarship program. Students receiving the scholarship should contact the program administrator about activating their scholarship or transferring remaining scholarship eligibility to EMU.
Wade McCree Scholarship
Eastern Michigan University participates in this scholarship program. Students receiving the scholarship should contact the program administrator about activating their scholarship or transferring remaining scholarship eligibility to EMU.

National Guard Tuition Grant Program

Award amount of $1,600 per year ($800 per semester) to students receiving Chapter 1606 benefits through the Michigan National Guard and Air National Guard. Contact EMU's Veteran Services Office at 734.487.3119.
Music Service Award
Award amount varies. Available to students who perform in EMU's music programs or provide outstanding service to the Music Department. Students must be in good academic standing.
Graduate Symposium Award
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students who have recently received their undergraduate degree and had participated in the last Undergraduate Symposium.

Graduate Meritorious Award
This one-time only award for $500 is offered to new graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to academic institutions and communities.
