Eastern Michigan University's Department of Music and
Dance kicks of its winter music schedule with the Second
Annual High School Solo and Ensemble Clinic, and continues
with performances that are ideal for piano and flute enthusiasts.
High school students will have the opportunity to work
with one of EMU's esteemed chorale and voice faculty as
they prepare for solo and ensemble festivals. The clinic
is Monday, Jan. 12, 4-8 p.m., Alexander Music Building.
The winter series continues with Larisa
Simington, a guest
pianist from Concordia University. Simington will perform
four piano sonatas from Scarlatti, Schubert's "Sonata in
A minor," Prokoviev's "Sonata in C major" and four selections
by Franz Liszt. This recital is Thursday, Jan. 15, at 8
p.m., Alexander Recital Hall.

The 57th Annual Faculty and Guest
Artist Choreography Concert will run from Friday,
Jan. 16, through Sunday, Jan. 18, in Quirk Theatre. This
unforgettable night of dance will feature ballet, modern,
jazz, contact improvisation and musical theatre performances
by EMU dance majors and minors. Faculty members Joanna
McNamara, Julianne O'Brien Pedersen and Phil Simmons
will perform, along with alumnus Erik Abbott-Main, and
guest artists Stefanie Cohen, Kathryn Contessa and Holly
Hobbs. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for
students. Performance times are: Friday and Saturday,
8 p.m.; and Sunday, 2 p.m.
Robert Satterlee, a pianist from Bowling Green State University,
has a reputation as a versatile and accomplished solo recitalist
and chamber musician. Satterlee's performance will include
Mozart's "Sonata in f major," Liszt's "Sonata in b minor," three
selections by Gabriel Fauree and "Riverwing" by Tom Flaherty.
Satterlee will perform Thursday, Jan. 22, 8 p.m., Alexander
Recital Hall.
Invited area high school choirs will participate in a
clinic experience with Anton Armstrong, the Harry R. and
Thora H. Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College,
Monday, Jan. 26, and Tuesday Jan. 27, 6-9 p.m., Pease Auditorium.

Lamb |
Eric Lamb is a flutist who is making a name for himself
as an artist who defies definition. He is not only a soloist,
but also an orchestral musician, passionate chamber musician
and much sought after lecturer. His dynamic performances
are known for riveting interpretations on classical and
baroque repertoire. Lamb will perform Wednesday, Jan. 28,
7 p.m., Alexander Recital Hall.
