CLASSIFICATION:
U.S. Representative John Dingell (above,

national designation for community engagement.
The presentation took place Feb. 16 at
EMU before a crowd of dignitaries, community
leaders and EMU supporters. The Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching
selected EMU to receive its 2008 Community
Engagement Classification for its extensive
community outreach. Eastern
Michigan was one of 119 U.S. colleges
and universities to receive the designation
for 2008.
