Eastern Michigan University's 2007 United Way campign ended strongly. The campaign ran for a shorter period this year — Oct. 8 through Nov. 2 — but the strategy paid off as overall dollar numbers, total gifts and numbers in various donor categories were all up from the 2006 campaign. The overall goal of $110,000 was easily exceeded as donations trickled in well into December. Eastern Michigan's campaign was co-chaired by Freman Hendrix, chief governmental relations officer; Jessica "Decky" Alexander, associate professor of communication and theatre arts; and Dennis Stolte, director, project management, ICT. Some major numbers from the campaign are as follows:
Total raised $117,423
Total gifts 692
Leadership Givers 28 (at least a $1,000 donation)
Labor Leads 26 (at least a $500 donation)
Caring Club members 65 (at least an annual gift of $156 to the Washtenaw United Way Community Investment Fund or a combination of other options)
