The following are important news briefs about activities and events happening at Eastern Michigan University.
- Board of Regents meets Jan. 18: The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents meets Tuesday, Jan. 18. The committee schedule is as follows: Faculty Affairs Committee, 8 a.m., 205 Welch; Student Affairs Committee, 8 a.m., 201 Welch; Educational Policies Committee, 9 a.m., 205 Welch; Finance Committee, 10:30 a.m., 201 Welch; Regular meeting, noon, 201 Welch; recess for lunch, 12:30 p.m.; Reconvene regular meeting, 1:30 p.m., 201 Welch. - Winter break courses still available: Earn up to four EMU credit hours during winter break (Feb. 27-March 4) by enrolling in one of more than 15 accelerated format courses offered at Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord. WEMU Mardi Gras scheduled Feb. 4: Tickets are now on sale for WEMU's annual Mardi Grad Party Friday, Feb. 4, 7:30 p.m., Convocation Center. Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, and Lagniappe will perform. Beads, masks and other favors will be available for purchase. This year, there is a $20 general admission ticket and a $40 ticket that includes a Louisiana-style dinner. Dinner parties of eight will receive a $5 discount per ticket. General admission tickets will be available at the door. Dinner party ticket sales will end Feb. 1. For tickets, call 487-2282.
- World College international travel grants available: International travel support is available to full-time faculty and staff through the World College. Special consideration will be given to those who have not previously received a travel grant. The deadline for receipt of your application is Feb. 14. - Resolution solution: The Rec/IM hosts a week of free aerobics through Saturday, Jan. 22. To participate, you must be a current member of the Rec/IM or purchase a day pass. Graduate Research Fair nominations due: Nomination forms for graduate students to present their academic research at the March 28th Graduate Research Fair are available from the Graduate School, department heads and graduate adviser, and the Graduate School Web site at www.gsr.emich.edu, or department heads and graduate advisers. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 21. Call the Graduate School, 487-0042.
