Gov.
Granholm appoints four new regents, reappoints
one
Governor Jennifer Granholm announced the appointment of
four new regents to Eastern Michigan University's governing
board, and the reappointment of another Wednesday, Jan.
17.
The four new regents are:
Ismael Ahmed, of Dearborn, executive director of the Arab
Community for Economic & Social Services. Ahmed is
appointed to represent the general public for a term expiring
Dec. 31, 2008. He succeeds Jan A. Brandon, who resigned.

Hawks |
Gary D. Hawks, of Okemos, retired. Hawks
was the vice president of University Relations at EMU from
1972-1981. He is appointed to represent the general public
for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2010. He succeeds Sharon J.
Rothwell, who resigned.
Francine Parker, of St. Clair Shores,
president and CEO of Health Alliance Plan. Parker is appointed
to represent the general public for a term expiring Dec.
31, 2014. She succeeds Joseph E. Antonini, whose term has
expired.
James F. Stapleton, of Ann Arbor, president
and CEO of B&R Consultants. Stapleton is appointed
to represent the general public for a term expiring Dec.
31, 2008. He succeeds Karen Quinlan Valvo, who resigned.
