meeting Jan. 19.
To be awarded emeritus status, faculty and staff must
have served EMU for at least 15 years and be nominated
for emeritus faculty status upon retirement.
Staff granted emeritus status are:

Norton, of Ypsilanti, received a bachelor's degree from
EMU. EMU has been a part of Norton's family for more than
50 years. Her father was a bricklayer, who worked on many
of the University's buildings, including Pray-Harrold and
Snow Health Center. Norton attended the former Roosevelt
Laboratory School on the campus of EMU and received her
high school diploma in 1969 — the school's final year of
operation. Her EMU career began with a summer job in the
dish room of Dining Commons ONE. She has since worked at
Snow Health Center, payroll, accounts payable and the accounting
department.
Judith K. Salyer, assistant director of Student Business
Services, retired after 22 years of service. Salyer, a
resident of Ypsilanti, began her career at EMU as manager
of cashiering operations. During her tenure, Salyer initiated
new processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Her
efforts resulted in electronic billing and payments, online
payment plans and a Web site to promote and sell EMU products.
