Roy E. Wilbanks, former vice president for university
relations at EMU, was elected chair of the Eastern Michigan
University Board of Regents at its regular meeting Feb.

Wilbanks was employed by Eastern Michigan University in
various roles, including: assistant to the president for
government and community relations, vice president for
university relations and secretary to the board of regents,
and president and chief executive officer of the Eastern
Michigan Foundation.
Wilbanks, a resident of Ypsilanti, has been an EMU regent
since 2004. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.
Francine Parker, of St. Clair Shores, was elected vice
chair. Governor Granholm appointed Parker in January 2007.
In 2008, Parker retired as president and CEO of Health
Alliance Plan.
John Lumm, interim chief financial officer, was elected
treasurer to the board. Jackie Kurtz was re-elected secretary
to the Board. Grant Thornton LLP, of Jackson, was named
the University's internal auditor, effective February 2009-June
2011.
