Eastern Michigan University President John A. Fallon has
appointed Karen L. Simpkins as acting vice president for
student affairs.

Jim Vick, vice president for student affairs, has been
placed on paid administrative leave.
Simpkins, who has been at EMU since 1976, has been the
interim associate vice president for human resources since
2006. Previously she was associate vice president for student
affairs and director of student judicial services at EMU.
Simpkins received her juris doctorate from the University
of Toledo College of Law and her master's degree from Eastern
Michigan University.
