The following are news briefs about important
activities and events happening at Eastern Michigan University.
- Goodbye, Larry: The
Business and Finance Division presents a celebration in
honor of Larry Ward Thursday, March 29, 3 p.m., Student
Center Ballroom A-B. Please join us in celebrating Larry's
retirement and 37 years of dedication to the physical plant

- The Good Person of Setzuan: EMU
Theatre presents "The Good Person of Setzuan," written
by Bertolt Brecht, adapted by Tony Kushner and directed
by Wallace Bridges. A soul struggles against the mores
of society in this poignant play charged with theatricality,
humor, song and poetry. EMU guest artist and McAndless Scholar N. Scott Hofmann
has designed the set and lighting, incorporating multi-media into this non-traditional
production. Performances will continue Thursday, March 29, through Saturday,
March 31, 8 p.m., in Quirk Theatre. For tickets, call

- Occupational Therapy
Fieldwork Educators' Day: Camile Skubik-Peplaski,
lead author of "Applying the Occupational
Therapy Practice Framework: The Cardinal Hill Occupational
Therapy Process," will be the keynote speaker at this
year's Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Educators' Day
Friday, March 30, 9:15 a.m., at Eagle Crest Conference
Center. Skubik-Peplaski, a 1984 EMU graduate, will describe
use of the framework during her presentation. This forum
provides an opportunity for fieldwork educators and faculty
to share current practice issues and resources. For more

- Massage fundraiser: The EMU Student Nurses Association and the School of Nursing
host a fundraiser in which a massage therapist will offer
a massage April 4, noon to 5 p.m., room 201, Marshall Building.
Cost is $10 for a 10-minute session. Add $1 for each additional
minute. Walk-ins are welcome, or you can R.S.V.P. Lori

- Poetry Slam: The
Seventh Annual Poetry Slam Invitational, also known as
the National Collegiate Poetry Slam, is scheduled April
5-7, Student Center. Approximately 20 teams from across
the U.S. are expected. The Poetry Society at EMU will
field a team. This is an interactive event where the
audience judges who is the best. Volunteers (ushers and
sale table attendants) are needed for April 5 and the
April 7 final event. Credit for attendance could be encouraged.

SPRING ON THE GRIDIRON: Eastern
Michigan
University's football team will
host its spring
game Saturday, April 7,
noon, at Rynearson
Stadium. |
EMU Football Spring
Game: The
2007 EMU Football spring game is scheduled Saturday,
April 7, Rynearson Stadium. The spring game schedule
will feature: "Stretch
with the Eagles" (ages 12 and under) 11:30 a.m.;
Spring Game, noon; and a post-game cook-out with the
team and coaches, 2 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity
to get autographs and pictures taken with Swoop in an
official EMU football uniform, and meet the EMU Cheer
and Dance Team. The spring game also will be the first
opportunity to purchase 2007 season tickets. Reserve
your ticket to the spring game by calling the EMU ticket
office at 487-2282. The first 350 people who R.S.V.P
will receive a voucher for a complimentary barbecue meal
at the cookout.

"Tempted," a fashion
show, is
scheduled Friday, April 13, 7
p.m., Quirk
Sponberg Theatre

- Fashion Show: Eastern
Michigan University's Apparel, Textile and Merchandising
program, and Communication and Theatre Arts present
the Ninth Annual Fashion Show, "Tempted." Friday, April
13, 7 p.m., Quirk Sponberg Theatre Building. The show
will highlight the work of EMU's talented designers.
Tickets are $5 for students, $7 for general admission
and $25 for V.I.P. tickets, which include stage seating
and a pre-show reception at 6 p.m. in Sponberg Theatre.

- Pease Auditorium reservations: The
Convocation Center Staff would like to remind everyone
that all requests to book or reserve Pease Auditorium for
events external to the EMU Department of Music and Dance
should go through Marcy Szabo, director of marketing, at

will still be reserved through the Music and Dance Events

books available: Nearly 40 coupons
are in the Student Center Winter ’07 Coupon
Book, featuring all food vendors and retail businesses
inside the EMU Student Center. Most coupons are
good through the end of April. Pick up your free
copy at the University Information Center desk
(located on the second floor of the Student Center),
