The following are news briefs about important
activities and events happening at Eastern Michigan University.
- Vice president for student
affairs and enrollment management candidate interviews: The
campus community is invited to attend presentations and
open forums for candidates for vice president for student
affairs and enrollment management. The remaining schedule
is as follows: Bernice
Lindke, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and
Enrollment Management, Eastern Michigan University, Wednesday,
April 8; and Wade Robinson, Associate Vice Chancellor for
Academic and Student Affairs, University of Nebraska at
Omaha, Friday, April 17. Presentations are scheduled from
2:30-3:15 p.m. and open forums from 3:15-4:30 pm in room
310A, Student Center, except April 6 when the location
changes to room 310B. For more information, contact Morell

- Provost search: Eastern Michigan University President Susan Martin has
initiated a search for a new provost and executive vice
president. A new Web site has been launched that will provide
information about the search, the process and its progress.
The Web site includes the advertisement, the roster of
search committee members, a profile of EMU, the tentative
search schedule, a link to the regular updates page and
a link to the University's consultant, Storbeck/Pimente.

- MPSERS information
meetings: MPSERS
participants, who are planning on retiring in the next
two to fours years, are encouraged to attend an online
Preretirement Information Meeting (PRIM) for public
school employees. This two-hour live Webinar will
help participants make informed decisions about their
retirement and future. Topics include pension eligibility,
pension calculations, payment options, service credit,
how and when to apply for insurance, and a question-and-answer
session. Registration is required. Be sure to follow
the instructions online. Interested employees may
register at http://www.michigan.gov/orsschools

- Dining Services
survey: Dining
Services is asking for campus-wide participation in a
survey as it begin making plans for future renovations.
Thoughts and experiences from the University community
will assist in developing a master plan, which will
help determine Dining Services' direction for the
next five to eight years. Your
input earns you a chance to win an iPod touch, a $75
Target gift card or a $50 Student Center Bookstore gift
card. To receive a 20-percent discount on a food or
drink purchase at any Dining Services location, simply
print the confirmation page after clicking "submit
survey." Redeem the discount by Wednesday, April

- World Languages program
review: The World Languages Department,
one of the Academic Review and Continuous Improvement
Cycle's departments, has completed its program reviews
for 2008-2009 and invites the campus community to provide
input and feedback to complete the review process. All
interested faculty and staff are invited to review and
comment on the World Languages Department program reviews
electronically, via the REPORTS tab on my.emich, through
April 13. To access the World Languages Department program
review report, login to my.emich, click on the REPORTS
tab, and click on the IRIM Reports. From the list, choose "How to Provide Comments for the Academic
Review and Continuous Improvement Cycle." Further questions

GRIDIRON SCRIMMAGE: The EMU football
team
plays its annual "green" and "white"
spring game
April 19, 2 p.m., in Rynearson
Stadium. |
- Spring football game: The
annual spring game for the Eastern Michigan University
football team is scheduled Sunday, April 19, 2 p.m.,
in Rynearson Stadium. The traditional "green" and "white" teams
will square off against each other in the final scrimmage
of the spring season. This will be the first chance to
get a peek at the Eagles under the direction of first-year
coach Ron English. In conjunction with the game, a garage
sale of EMU football jerseys, cleats and other game paraphernalia
will start at 1 p.m. After the game, players and coaches
will be available on the field for media interviews,
fan autographs and photographs. Admission is free. Season
tickets also will be available for purchase, starting
at $45 for adults and $15 for youth. Ticket packages
include new benefits, including a 10-percent discount
off a membership card to The Locker Room, the official
apparel shop of EMU Athletics, as well as priority to
purchase tickets to the Eagles' Sept. 19 contest at the
University of Michigan. For more information, call Scott

- Tuition waiver
notice: The
deadline for employee and employee spouse/dependents
tuition waiver application submission for the spring
term is Thursday, May 7. For summer term, the deadline
is Thursday, July 2. Failure to turn in an application
on time will result in the application being denied.

160th year of existence in March.

than 40 historical photos are on display on
the second
floor of the Student Center
through the end of April. |
- EMU historical photo
display: EMU celebrates 160 years of "Putting
Education First" with
a look back in pictures. More than 40 historical pictures
are currently on display in the EMU Student Center,
second floor, outside the University Art Gallery. Faculty,
staff, students and visitors are invited to view the
photos (dating back to the late 1800s) in testimony to
EMU's rich heritage in education. The pictures will be
on display from now until the end of April. For more
