The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents approved a revised general fund total financial aid request for $23,631,000 at its regular meeting April 1.
This increases the previous 2008-09 general fund total financial aid request by $593,000. The additional funding is designed to increase occupancy, specifically for returning students who wish to live in single rooms in the Towers residence hall complex. Students who choose to live in the complex will be eligible to receive up to $1,000 each in grants applied to the costs of these rooms.
The total 2008-09 budget includes scholarships, awards and grants ($12,301,000); athletic grants-in-aid ($6,284,000); federal and state matches ($729,000); and graduate assistants and doctoral fellowships ($4,317,000).
