I was here, left and came back to complete my education. I got my
bachelor's degree in communications, public safety and human behavior,
and got my master's degree in political science, and marketing and management.
I am here for the students. I love the mentoring aspect of my job and
the exposure to youth and culture. I am a police officer, but I don't
have to be 'Officer Badass.' I can be 'Officer Candy' depending upon
the relationship I forge with the students. I find most students
respond when you treat them fairly without bias and with respect
(depending on the individual).
I have been the crime prevention officer at EMU for almost 10 years.
I got involved because it was something different and it provided
me with an opportunity to further develop students for the real world.
The Rape Aggression Defense course that I coordinate helps empower
our students and it allows the students and officers the opportunity
to see each other differently. That helps break down barriers and makes EMU a safer, better place. I am proud of that!
