CELEBRATING NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY: This billboard message, located along 1-94 near Belleville, demonstrates Eastern Michigan University's support for National Teacher Education Day, which was celebrated May 6. Eastern Michigan and the Michigan Education Association (MEA) have teamed up to honor the State of Michigan's dedicated employees through a billboard campaign. Green and white billboards, with the theme, "Thank a School Employee," are located at 1-94 at Belleville Road and 1-94 at Greenfield Road. The billboards went up starting May 6, which was National Teachers Day. The campaign continues through the month. Eastern Michigan has been educating teachers and school personnel since 1849. The National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.
