My ties to EMU began as a child. My father
was a professor in the special education department and
has been a dedicated supporter of EMU Athletics for the
past 45 years. I grew up attending EMU football and basketball
games with him. I remember watching Kennedy McIntosh, Harvey
Marlett and the "Ice
Man," George Gervin,
pack Bowen Field House.
When it was time to select a college, I never considered any place other
than EMU. I graduated with a bachelor's in business management in 1983
and worked as a file clerk in the Office of Financial Aid for 1 ½ years
before moving out of the area and starting our family.
In 2002, we returned to the area and I came to the University to work
in University Marketing. I became the coordinator for the
Eagle Card office in February 2004. I enjoy the opportunity to interact
directly with the students, parents, faculty and staff.
My personal experience as a parent of four teenagers, the oldest son
whom has just completed his freshman year at EMU, helps me to understand
what the parents and new students go through when they visit our office.
I can relate to their questions, concerns and anxiety, and appreciate
the opportunity to connect with a student and parent on a more personal
level.
The university atmosphere is very energizing. You see people in
a continued process of learning, growing and changing.
It motivates me to keep moving forward.
