Two new trustees recently were elected to serve three-year terms on the Eastern Michigan University Foundation Board of Trustees.

Barr Jr. |
Donald G. Barr Jr., an EMU alumnus, is founder and president of Greenfield Commercial Credit, based in Troy. Previously, Barr, of Troy, was employed by City National Bank and served 18 years with Michigan National Bank. He received his bachelor's degree in business education from EMU in 1971. Barr generously supports the endowed scholarship established at EMU in honor of his parents, Maxine and Donald Barr. Both served as trustees with the Lincoln Health Care Foundation.

Karam |
Abe A. Karam, an EMU alumnus from Saline, moved to the United States in 1958 from Beirut, Lebanon. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1962 and his MBA in 1965. After interning with AXA/Equitable Life Assurance, Karam joined the company as an agent in 1965. In 1975, he was inducted into Equitable's Hall of Fame and, in 1980, was chosen as the Midwest Regional Honor Agent. For the past 39 years, he has consistently been a member of the prestigious insurance industry's Million Dollar Round Table. Karam also has served as treasurer of the EMU Alumni Association. He has been a member of the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce since 1975 and is an active member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ann Arbor. Karam is a consistent, generous supporter of EMU.
In addition, two trustees were named to the board to represent the EMU Alumni Association and EMU emeritus faculty.

Mamuscia |
David P. Mamuscia, '67 and '71, will represent the EMU Alumni Association. Mamuscia recently retired as vice president and consulting actuary, Midwest Region, Marsh Employee Benefit Services. He serves as treasurer on the EMU Alumni Board of Directors and resides in Brighton.

Minzey |
Jack D. Minzey, EMU class of 1950, will represent the emeritus faculty on the Foundation board. Minzey is faculty emeritus and former department head of EMU's Leadership and Counseling Department. He has been honored with EMU's Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Outstanding Service Award from the National Community Education Association. He resides in Ypsilanti.
The following trustees were elected officers to the Board for 2005-06:
William Morris, chairperson, EMU class of 1964, president, Monroe County Industrial Development Corp.
Daniel Arbour, vice chair, '77, vice president, North American Sales, ProQuest Co.
Marilyn Opdyke, vice chair, '81, president, The Opdyke Group.
James Greene, vice chair, attorney, Dykema Gossett.
Kenneth Bruchanski, treasurer, '75, chief financial officer, CIT Systems Leasing.
Larry Warren, '70 and '73, will serve as past-chair. He is director and chief executive officer, University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers.
Trustees re-appointed to three-year terms were:
Harold "Bud" Schimmelpfenneg, '68;
Maureen Thomas, '81, attorney at law;
Paul Tucker Jr., '75, principal/CEO/president, Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull Inc.; and Morris.
All serve as volunteers.
University representatives on the Board for 2005-06 are:
John A. Fallon III, EMU president;
John Dugger, dean, College of Technology; and
Jim Vick, vice president for student affairs.
Daryl Barton, professor of marketing, will represent the EMU Faculty Council and Robert Murkowski, EMU student body president, is the student representative for 2005-06.
The EMU Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that increases private support and manages endowment assets for the benefit of Eastern Michigan University.
